My final advert
After rattling my brains and rejecting many of the ideas it presented, we eventually agreed upon an advert.
I did the finishing touches yesterday and I hope it comes out alright and can fit in the CD
I made a short video and called it The Playground.
I think it fits in with our "Bye Buy Childhood" campaign.

Industries taking advantage of minors
I think I should talk a little about my Vogue pictures.
I'll mention how the meaning of "dressing up" has evolved over the years.
I also want to mention how various industries take advantage of young children in order to gain attention and cause controversy.
A prime example would be the band Scorpions who released an album in 1976. The album was called Virgin Killer and the cover featured a completely nude 10 year old girl, Jaqueline. The girl is posing provocatively and her genitalia is subtly covered by imposed image of cracked glass. The cover caused quite a stir in many countries and was therefore banned in a number of nations.
For the bit about "dressing up" I'm gonna compare how children usually dress up to the Vogue Christmas issue. Nanzi :)

The adulteration of children in fasion
Here are some pictures from Witchery Kids new child clothing line. The way the children are "adultified" is quite subtle however there is a definite underlying "grown up" aura through out the campaign. Witchery Kids responded by saying that their line (designed for two- to nine-year-olds) is meant to be fun and playful, with "up to the minute adult trends styled for the smaller set," and that "the majority of feedback...regarding our campaign and product range has been very positive." I think that not only have the children been dressed to look like miniature adults they pose in model positions too...pouting, avoiding eye contact, looking board or lost and no smiling what so ever. It's easy to draw a parallel between this clothing campaign and the once in a Glamor magazine, the only difference is these are children. Since industrialization there has been this urgency put on children to grow up as fast as they can. what is worse is in every new generation the age of wanting to be more "grown up" is lowering. These children are between 6 and 9 years of age.
